Equipment Breakdown

What is Equipment Breakdown Insurance?

Equipment Breakdown (EB) insurance covers the cost to repair or replace equipment as well as other losses and expenses that result from a breakdown.

Most businesses today rely on some type of equipment, from appliances and machinery to electrical and HVAC systems, computers, phones, security systems, and more. When equipment breaks down the losses can add up: repair bills, new equipment, spoiled inventory, lost time, and lost income.

Many policies have optional coverage extensions, so they may be customized to the equipment and needs of the business. EB is typically included within Property and Business Owner’s policies, but may also be secured as a more robust standalone policy.

Questions about Equipment Breakdown?

Equipment Breakdown does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, poor maintenance, rust or corrosion, product defects, mold, cracking, shrinking or expanding, or pest damage.
