Congratulations to our CEO, Marty Welch, who has been honored as a finalist for “Business Executive of the Year” in the 7th Annual Pacific Edge Magazine Business Achievement Awards. This award recognizes corporate executives who have made a great impact on their organization through innovation, integrity, growth and inspiring their company to excellence in every aspect of business. “As a company, we strive to spotlight the most innovative and inspirational professionals and organizations in our community,” said Naomi Hazelton, co-publisher of Pacific Edge magazine.
Marty’s nomination recognized how, under his leadership, HEMIC has evolved into an innovative, first-in-class insurance provider and a market leader that provides new, cutting-edge products and services that add significant value to better serve the Hawai‘i business community. In addition, under his tenure HEMIC has received a “2016 Best Places to Work” award from Pacific Business News Magazine and was recognized in 2017 by the Better Business Bureau with the Torch Award for Ethics, the highest honor given by the BBB. Marty has overseen considerable growth at HEMIC, demonstrated by the 2016 $3 million policyholder dividend, which is the highest dividend share declared to date relative to earnings.
As Pacific Edge told Marty, “Our judges had some incredible candidates to select from, but you stood out from the rest in the Business Executive of the Year category.” Finalists for the awards decided by an independent panel of five esteemed members of the business community. “The judging was extremely close this year,” said Debra Hartley, the judging coordinator for the gala. “It was as tight as a third of a point between two of the nominees and there was a spread of less than three points between multiple award finalists.”
Congratulations, Marty, on this well-deserved honor. We are proud to have you at our helm.
