HEMIC’s mission as a mutual workers’ compensation insurance carrier is to serve Hawaii’s businesses and workers. As a 100% local company, we believe it is important to support our community in other ways, too.

Communities on the North Shore of Kauai have been devastated by recent flooding, and it will take time, resources and effort to help them begin recovery. On the Big Island, the Puna lava flow continues to impact the affected communities.

HEMIC has donated $5000 to The Salvation Army for their local disaster relief efforts: to provide food, water, clothing, emotional and spiritual support to those affected by these recent events. The Salvation Army will use 100% percent of these funds to support their emergency disaster services in Hawaii.

The Salvation Army is currently seeking monetary donations as well as local companies who can donate large meals, provide volunteers, and raise funds. You can learn more, make a donation, or sign up to volunteer for their Puna efforts here. You can donate to their Kauai and Oahu flood relief efforts here.

At HEMIC, we believe it is our kuleana to support organizations and participate in efforts that care for our local community, especially families and children, in meaningful ways. We are proud to be able to contribute our time, personal efforts, fundraising and financial contributions to make a difference.
